Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Term 3 2019. I trust that you have had an opportunity for some rest and relaxation with your children over the past two weeks in preparation for a busy term. We have many planned school activities in the coming weeks and we hope to see as many family members and friends of our community at such events.
Thank you to all in our community who supported and attended our school celebrations at the end of Term 2. A very successful and special Grandparents Day was held. Despite the challenging weather our classrooms were full of many proud children and grandparents sharing their school and work with each other. At our school liturgy we gave thanks for all grandparents and grand figures and we recognised the important roles such people play in the lives of their children and grandchildren.
A huge thank you to everyone for their support and involvement in the school’s Athletic Carnival on the last day of term. Although we were challenged by the weather (for the second day in a row) we managed to complete most of the events. Thanks to the children for their adaptability and great behaviour when coping with the changes throughout the day. A HUGE THANK YOU to Mrs Augustine for her fine organisation, to the staff for their hard work and to the parent helpers who ensured the success of the day. Congratulations to all participants and to the winners. Final scores are still being tallied with the winners being announced at Friday afternoon’s assembly.
Our condolences and prayers are with Mrs Augustine and her family on the recent loss of Mrs Augustine’s mother. May she rest in peace. Also our prayers and support are with Georgia Young (Year 2) and her family on the recent loss of her father. May he rest in peace.
Next Wednesday 31st July St Thomas More School is participating in a Cyclic Review. Cyclic Review is an external validation of our school’s improvement journey. An external team from Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong will review, affirm, challenge and endorse our work. Students, staff, parents and priest will be involved in the process. On Cyclic Review Day, the Review team will be present in our school to visit classes, talk to members of our school and review our documentation.
A reminder about our upcoming School Fete on Sunday 4th August. A huge thank you to all families for your support so far with all of the requests made of you in regards to donations for the Fete. Over the next week and a half we will still require your support. Thanks in anticipation for all that you are about to do. Our annual school Fete is one of our major community events for the year. Don’t forget to invite family and friends to our school for the Fete. See you there!
Best wishes for the coming week,
Philip Barrington
