Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Our prayers, thoughts and best wishes continue to go to the Harley family - Mackenzie (Year 6), Sienna (Year 4), Harrison (Year 2) and Matilda (Kindergarten), as Matilda has recently undergone major surgery. By all accounts Matilda is responding well and slowly recovering after her big operation. Our prayers will continue for Matilda and for all people who are sick, especially anyone connected with the St Thomas More School community.
Heavenly Father, please watch over Matilda and grant that she may be restored to that perfect health which it is Yours alone to give; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Best wishes to the children in Year 3 of our school and parish who are receiving their First Holy Communion this weekend. Many thanks to the parish sacramental team and to the parents for preparing the children to receive Jesus in our special way this weekend.
CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to all who were involved in our 2019 Wakakirri performance. Our school performed again last night at the Performance and Awards Night in Homebush and St Thomas More School were winners in the ‘Story of the Year Award’. St Thomas More School are now the Sydney region nominee in the ‘National Story of the Year Award’. We do not need to perform again but we now await the judges final decision for the national awards. We have been informed that the results will be announced on Waka TV on 17th October. There is much more about 2019 Wakakirri on the website https://www.wakakirri.com/mainsite/ You might like to have a look at this website. There is also an opportunity to vote for the ‘People's Choice Award across the nation.
It is now time to pack away the Wakakirri costumes until our next big school performance - the Annual School Christmas Concert in which all children from Kindergarten to Year 6 will perform. This event is being held in the Mary Shiel Centre (the Hall at St Patrick’s College) on Tuesday 3rd December. More details will be provided for you next term about this event.
Mrs Ashlee Ross and Mrs Lauren Morris both plan to commence their respective maternity leave early in Term 4. Both ladies intend to return to school in Term 4 for the first few weeks before leaving to have their babies. We welcome Miss Ashleigh Pace to our school who will be teaching Kindergarten Gold in Term 4 and Mr Joshua Navarette who will be teaching Year 3 Gold in Term 4. Both Miss Pace and Mr Navarette are known to our school through their casual teaching days at St Thomas More School during 2019.
All parents and friends of our school are invited to the 2019 STM Trivia Night. The Trivia Night is being held at the Campbelltown Catholic Club on Friday 18th October 2019. As a token of thanks to everyone for their support of our fete and all school activities in 2019, the P&F Association are subsiding $25.00 per head for the Trivia Night. This means that parents who attend the Trivia Night will only need to pay $10.00 per head for a great night out with parents and friends of our school. Please return your Trivia Night note to the School Office as soon as possible to secure your table. Please note that this is an ‘adults only’ event.
Included in this newsletter is the Term 4 2019 calendar.
Best wishes for the coming week ,
Philip Barrington
