Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Term 2.  I trust that you made the most of the beautiful weather and spent time with family and friends during the recent holidays.  As always Term 2 looks extremely busy with many opportunities being provided for everyone to be involved in the life of our school.  Some of the events that will keep us all busy during Term 2 include: the sacrament of Confirmation, School Photo Day, St Thomas More feast day, School Athletics Carnival, Semester 1 Reports and Interviews.  We look forward to all students working hard to achieve their goals in their learning.

Vale Bishop Peter Ingham
Over the past weekend we heard the sad news of the death of the previous Bishop of Wollongong, Bishop Peter Ingham.  Bishop Peter served the Diocese of Wollongong for sixteen years and has been Bishop Emeritus of Wollongong since 2018.  Paying tribute to the impact Bishop Peter had on the Diocese of Wollongong, our current bishop, Bishop Brian Mascord said: “Bishop Peter was a spiritual father of the Illawarra, Macarthur, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands. We offer him a heartfelt ‘well done, good and faithful servant’ (Matthew 25:23), and we take comfort in the sure hope that we now have another advocate in the presence of our Lord praying for the needs and salvation of the people of God in the Diocese of Wollongong.

Visit from the Sebastian Foundation
Today St Thomas More School welcomed some special visitors to our school.  Guy Sebastian and Jules Sebastian along with the Mayor of Campbelltown Dr George Greiss visited our school.  The Sebastian Foundation proudly sponsors our schools’ involvement in the ‘Open Parachute’ program.  Open Parachute is the program used in all classes from Kindergarten to Year 6 which is focussed on Student Wellbeing.  The Open Parachute program provides the students with opportunities for example to develop skills in resilience, relationships and coping with differences.  St Thomas More School gratefully thanks the Sebastian Foundation for the funds that they provide for our participation in such a worthwhile program.  More photos of this exciting visit can be found on our school’s Facebook page.

Term 2 Uniform
For the next two weeks parents may decide as to which uniform that they send their child to school in.  From Monday 13th May (Week 3) all children are to be in their Winter uniform.  School Photo Day is being held on Wednesday 29th May 2023 (Week 5) in which each child needs to be in their Winter uniform.

Tell Them From Me Survey
From 2024 all schools in Catholic Education, Diocese of Wollongong, will conduct the ‘Tell Them From Me Survey’.  This will occur each year around this time of year.  Parents, staff and students will be involved in the survey.  The survey is now open for parents and will remain open until 24th May.

In the coming weeks we will be inviting students, teachers and parents to provide feedback on their experience of our school using an online survey. The surveys are an important part of our whole school evaluation and planning process.

We would like to invite you to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning survey. As we value the role of parents and carers within our school community we would greatly appreciate your feedback. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing at St Thomas More catholic Parish Primary School Ruse

The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. You are able to access the parent survey on your computer or mobile device by using the URL below:
