Dear Parents and Carers,
A super huge thank you to all in our wonderful community for all your hard work, time and effort with the 2023 St Thomas More Fete. It was a great day. We certainly achieved our goal of organising a Fete that would highlight again our true St Thomas More community spirit. On Fete Day we had our current school and parish families join us as well as families from past years and future families associated with St Thomas More School. It was a great event to acknowledge all who are connected with our school and parish. Expenses are currently being finalised and we hope soon to be able to state in monetary terms the success of our day which ultimately supports and provides valuable funds for our school which will be put towards school resources. Thank you in particular to the 2023 Fete Coordinators - Mrs Amelia Williams and Mrs Katherine Willis. Amelia and Katherine devoted many long hours to the organisation and preparation for our Fete. Thank you to all parents, carers, relatives and the STM P&F Association for all your support of the 2023 Fete.

Congratulations to Mrs Kirsty Aiken and husband Sam on the announcement that they are expecting their first child. Baby Aiken is due in the new year.
We say thank you and best wishes to Mrs Emma Carran who today has finished teaching Sport to the students. Mrs Carran is taking time from teaching to care for her young family. We hope to see Mrs Carran in the future teaching various classes in our school.
Wakakirri
St Thomas More School’s Wakakirri performance is tomorrow night at the Parramatta Riverside Theatre. We say best of luck to the 50 student performers from Year 2 to Year 6. We say thank you to the staff particularly the Wakakirri Team for all of their hard work and coordination for our school. We thank the parents and carers for their support of our school's participation in 2023 Wakakirri.
Late to School
Thank you to all families in our school who have made a conscious effort of being on time for school each day. The number of children who arrive late for school has dramatically reduced. Let's keep up these good efforts. School starts officially at 8.30am. Class rolls are taken as soon as classes enter their rooms to commence learning for the day. Thank you to those students and families who are regularly on time for school, ready to learn from the beginning of the school day.
Father’s Day Celebrations
You will read further in this newsletter information regarding the upcoming Father’s Day Stall. Also on Friday 1st September, all dads, parents and carers are invited to a bbq breakfast in the school grounds. More details will be provided soon about the start time and the food that will be served. When the bell goes at 8.30am the breakfast will be followed by a short prayer assembly to celebrate Father’s Day.
Jersey Day
Each year St Thomas More School recognises and raises awareness of the importance of organ donation through participation in Jersey Day. We are going to celebrate Jersey Day with our Father’s Day celebrations. Children are permitted to wear a jersey and mufti clothes to school on Friday 1st September. Children who do not own a jersey may wear mufti clothes in the colours of their favourite teams. No money donation will be collected as this is an awareness raising day.
Parents and Friends Association
Deja Brew Coffee will be present in the turning circle outside the school office from 8.00am on Monday 4th September. All are reminded that the next Parents and and Friends Association meeting will be held on Monday 11th September at 7.00pm in the School Library. Mrs Catherine Garrett-Jones, the Executive Director of the Council of Catholic School Parents NSW/ACT will be our special guest at this meeting and she will present information to the Parents and Friends Association. Any items for the agenda can be emailed through to info@stmdow.catholic.edu.au
