Dear Parents and Carers,
Firstly, thank you to all parents, carers and families for your support of our school in Term 1. There have been many occasions that we have been able to come together and celebrate, some of these being; Welcome BBQ, Opening School Mass, Golden Assembly, Cross Country Carnival, Holy Week Stations of the Cross. These school events show the wonderful spirit of community that exists at St Thomas More, whether it is a learning event, sport event or a religious celebration.
As we enter further into the Easter Season we become aware of how Jesus appeared to his disciples on many occasions, however sometimes they were unable to see him until he broke bread with them. We are called as Catholics to seek Christ out in others in every interaction.
ANZAC Day
Every year our school is invited by the City of Campbelltown RSL Sub Branch to participate in the ANZAC Day service at Mawson Park on Thursday 25th April 2024. If you intend on your child attending, please go to the COMPASS event 2024 ANZAC Day. This is an opt-in event, we are requesting who may attend so that we are aware of numbers.
Parent Concern Process
Working in partnership with parents and families is important to the staff and school community. We know there may be times when you have a concern or question about your child’s learning or wellbeing. Your child’s class teacher is the first point of contact regarding any questions or concerns. This communication can be through email, or phone through the school office. There may be times when discussion and consultation with the leadership team member who supports the grade may be required.
Please find below the Grade Leadership Team Member for each grade:
- Kindergarten and Year 2 - Mrs Veronica Baker
- Year 1 - Mr Andrew Astill
- Year 3 and 4 - Miss Nancy Fajloun
- Year 5 and 6 - Mrs Liz Jensen

Staff Professional Learning
Throughout this term staff have been furthering and deepening their knowledge of the new English and Mathematics curriculums. This has occurred through their attendance at professional learning off site, as well as working in stage and grade collaborative groups every Monday while the students are participating in sport with C&M Sports. Although we are aware that some disruption may be caused to classes, it is outweighed by the benefits of staff having a deeper understanding of the content and how to teach it.
Staff have worked collaboratively to unpack the Mathematics syllabus content ‘Representing Number, ’in order to develop a K-6 whole school assessment. The data from this assessment will be used to assist the class teachers in making decisions about what to teach and when. This assessment is being conducted face-to-face as well as an online component.
The week we celebrate the learning that has been occurring in 6Gold.

Student Wellbeing and PB4L Update

PB4L Whole School Expectations
At the end of last year, staff and students worked together in revising the PB4L expectations for all areas of the school. This review has led to a revised set of expectations that have been explicitly taught and discussed with students. The expectations are aligned to the 4 school rules: Respect Yourself, Respect Others, Respect the Environment and Be Safe. Classroom expectations reflect these school wide expectations also. We are also in the process of evaluating the correction sequence for the classroom and playground, and these will be shared when they have been finalised.

CEDoW Review of Mental Health Support Services
The CEDoW Mental Health Support Services Review is an important initiative, aiming to enhance the wellbeing services we provide. With the collaboration of Altum Counselling and Consulting Pty Ltd, we are conducting a thorough evaluation of our current services and support systems. The short survey, which takes only 8-15 minutes to complete, will be conducted with the utmost respect for your time and privacy. Your anonymous contributions will play a crucial role in improving the support systems within our schools, which will have lasting benefits for both students and staff. We thank you for your active participation. Together, we will strengthen the foundations of support and wellbeing within the CEDoW community. Survey closes 16 April.
