Dear Parents and Carers,
It is with disappointment that I inform you of a few more cancellations of some of our regular school events, due to the restrictions now enforced as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic. The Term 4 whole school swimming program has been cancelled as has the Kindergarten 2021 Playgroup sessions have been cancelled. The P&F Colour Run that was originally planned for Term 1 and we have been postponing this event in hope of the restrictions being lifted has now also been cancelled. Although it is with regret that we make these decisions, we are fortunate that the majority of students and their families in our community are remaining healthy. Our daily lives are most certainly disrupted, but we have not yet had to endure the pain and suffering that many countries in our world are currently experiencing. We continue to pray for our world in need. For the past nine days our school has stopped at midday to pray a special Novena to St Mary of the Cross MacKillop for our world.
St Mary of the Cross,
you faced difficult times
with a heart filled with trust,
always believing in the
watchful presence of God.
Walk with us now
in this difficult time,
and may we be for others,
examples of confident hope and trust.
St Joseph and St Mary of the Cross
pray with us in this time of need.
Our two Staff Development Days have now been rescheduled for Friday 25th September (last Friday of Term 3) and Monday 12th October (first Monday of Term 4). These are Pupil Free days. The entire staff will be involved in professional development and will be working off site so as to maintain safety for all adults. The focus of the two days are Staff Spirituality and Social and Emotional Learning program. We hope to share our learnings with you in the coming months.
A reminder that Friday 4th September is Jersey Day. Our school is again participating in Mufti/Jersey/Footy Colours Day to raise awareness for Organ and Tissue donation. This is an extraordinary mufti day, not to raise money donations but to raise our awareness of this worthy cause.
Mrs Joanne MacFetters, will soon be undergoing her appraisal as Assistant Principal at St Thomas More Catholic Parish Primary School. All parents are invited to participate in this process through the completion of an online survey. Please access the link that will be sent through Compass later today.
All parents are reminded to contact the School Office and/or your child’s class teacher if the pick up/dismissal arrangements change for your child. Please do not send a relative or neighbour who is not known to us to collect your child without communicating this with us. We do not wish to embarrass anyone when we do not allow your child to go home with them, without prior notification. We aim to keep all students safe at all times.

Arriving at School
A reminder that students must not be on the school grounds before 8am, as there is no supervision before this time and the playground is very empty and isolated.
We understand that this can cause problems for parents, who need to begin work earlier than this time, but for the safety of your child, please make sure they do not arrive before 8am.
If you require care for your child before 8am, please make contact with Little Green Frogs, who conduct Before School Care and then drop the students at school in time for the 8.30am bell.
Hair Styles
Over the last couple of weeks we have had a few haircuts, which do not comply with the school uniform policy. We ask when you take your child for a haircut or allow someone else to take them, that everyone involved, including the barber is aware of what is permitted.
As outlined in the Parent Handbook:
Hair Styles
- Hair to be neat and tidy at all times
- Girls with long hair are to wear it tied back or plaited
- Royal blue or black hair bands should be worn. No ornamental hair accessories to be worn
- Hair should be natural colour
- Boy’s hair should be collar length or shorter with no extremes (no: mohawks, shaved indents, rats tails, closely razored areas, no shorter than a number 2, long fringes etc). Hair should be the one length all over.
We thank you in advance for assisting us to ensure all hair styles follow the above guidelines.
School Tracksuit
Our new tracksuit is now available at Lowes - both the jacket and pants.
We ask, moving forward, that when your child requires a new jacket or pair of tracksuit pants, you only purchase the new ones from Lowes. Please do not purchase any more stretch knit pants from Big W, Kmart etc.
