Dear Parents and Carers,
This Sunday our Church celebrates the feast of Pentecost. Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem. Pentecost is known as the birthday of the Church. At the first Pentecost the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles which enabled them to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. Some of the Year 6 students in our school and parish are currently preparing to receive the Holy Spirit through the sacrament of Confirmation. At their Confirmation the candidates will be filled with gifts of the Holy Spirit. Let us continue to pray for our students and families at this special time.
Thank you to the STM families who supported are recent fundraiser ‘Lattes for Lismore’. $495.00 was raised and has been sent to Lismore as part of the Diocese of Wollongong support for Lismore.
Thank you to the Kindergarten parents who attended the recent Kindergarten information sessions. The parents were informed on how reading is being taught in Kindergarten and were provided with some tips regarding Kindergarten Homework. Parents were provided with an opportunity to visit the Kindergarten classrooms. This was the first opportunity to visit the Kindergarten learning environment as restrictions have prevented such visits from occurring since the beginning of the year.
Thank you to Mrs Sarah Ellis-Donai, Mrs Lousie Labib and their trusty helpers for organising the recent Mother’s Day Stall. I am sure there were many huge smiles on the faces of the mums, aunts and grandmas when they received their gifts on Mother's Day.
Next week we welcome back Mrs Daniella Thompson. Mrs Thompson has returned to Sydney and will be teaching Year 4 Gold for the remainder of the year.
This week is national Families Week. National Families Week encourages students, parents and school staff to reflect on their own families; the role that families play in enriching and supporting us in our personal growth and goals; and what it means to be part of a caring, nurturing community. The theme of National Families Week is 'Stronger Families, Stronger Communities', which aims to recognise the important role families play as the central building blocks of Australian communities.
To celebrate National Families Week CatholicCare is running a five-part webinar series to celebrate family and make the most out of family life. Each webinar will have a different focus.
Family Resilience: Understand what a resilient person and family looks like, and how you can build resilience within yourself and your family.
Family Values: Understand what values are and why they are important. By identifying our family values we can better understand and connect.
Family Connection: With our lives so busy we can struggle to keep connections within our family, learn why connection is important and how to sustain or build family connections
Family Self-Care: Learn why self-care is so important and how looking after ourselves, has a flow-on effect on the whole family.
Family Mindfulness: Learn what mindfulness is and the benefits it provides, not just for ourselves, but also the benefit it has on our family.
